5 Simple Ways to Stay Active While Away For the Holiday Season

Staying committed to your workout schedule and weight loss during the holidays can be something of a challenge for most people. And while there are plenty of articles between published online about how to eat properly to avoid gaining all of the weight you have worked so hard to shed over the year (more and more get published as we get closer to the holidays), very little is published about staying active while visiting with family and friends.

Here are five easy things you can do to stay active while away from the gym visiting family (of course, we will also be watching what we eat!).

1. Walk after each meal. This is an easy one if your family has a dog that needs to be walked. Use the pet as a reason to go for a twenty or thirty minute walk. If there are no pets you can use as an excuse to slip away, make one up or be up-front and say that you like to burn off some extra calories after each meal.

2. Shovel the snow. If you are visiting family in a snowy climate, offer to do the shoveling. This will help with maintaining your muscle mass.

3. Take charge of family activities. There is nothing more enjoyable than a family skate, snow-shoe hike, toboggan run or other outdoor activity. Take charge and plan for a fun excursion for some fresh air and exercise.

4. Be the first to join the kids for a snowball fight or snowman building contest. Getting out in the snow with the kids is a great to help them burn energy... and help you burn some energy too!

5. Offer help at every opportunity. Whether taking the garbage out, breaking down boxes for the recycling or just running extra chairs up and down the stairs, offer your help at every chance. This will not only make your hosts happy, but will keep you active within the house.

Although the holidays are normally a time for visiting family and indulging in some rest and relaxation, remember that diets are often impossible to maintain and combining poor diet with lack of activity will result in quicker weight gain. Stay active by doing these five things and getting back to your pre-holiday routine will not only be easier, but you will drop those few extra pounds a lot quicker, too!

Custom Printed T Shirts With Winter Holiday Designs

Since the holidays mean preparing gifts for friends and loved ones, one of the best ideas for holiday gifts are personalised t-shirts. They are easy to make and quick to produce in large numbers. They can be personalised with names, dates and places custom printed on the t-shirts.

Snow Angels, Snow Men and Snow Crystals Custom Printed On T-Shirts

The winter months always bring with them an atmosphere of whimsical playfulness. Snow angels, throwing snowballs at each other, and the anticipation of the holiday celebrations are what many people look forward to this season.

T-shirts for men, women and children often feature winter designs, like the adorable Snow Man, some falling snow crystals and snowflakes, or the snow covered fir trees. People are drawn wearing winter clothing and engaging in winter activities, such as skiing and ice skating.

These Rockefeller-type images are popular prints, not only on custom printed t-shirts, but also on greeting cards and posters. Designs on event posters and greeting cards can also be screen printed just like on t-shirts.

Christian and Non-Christian Holidays Custom Printed T-Shirts

These t-shirts often have custom printed messages for specific holidays. Christmas t-shirts greet everyone a "Merry Christmas." Hanukkah t-shirts are printed with "Happy Hanukkah" images and greetings. The same goes with other winter holidays.

Printed t-shirts for the Christmas Season often feature images of scenes and symbols associated with the birth of Christ. The manger scene or the Nativity scene is the most popular scene printed on t-shirts for Christmas parties.

The most popular Christmas symbols, on one hand, are Christmas trees, Christmas wreaths, and Christmas stockings. The most popular Christmas persona is Santa Claus, who is the star of the season just as Jesus is the reason for the season.

The custom printed t-shirts are dyed and printed with Christmas colors like red, green and white. The design colors are paired with gold and silver glitter and trimmings.

Cultural and Historical Holidays Custom Printed On T-Shirts

Custom printed t-shirts for the winter holidays can also have historical or cultural themed designs. Cultural and historical holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving are also favorite t-shirt prints.

Images that symbolize Halloween, such as carved pumpkins and bats, are among the popular designs. They are cartoon-like and use darker coverage for printed kids' t-shirts. They look hand painted or hand drawn for men's printed t-shirts. Printed t-shirts for ladies have female personas associated with Halloween, like a witch or a vampires.

The colors most often used for Halloween t-shirts are black, red, orange and gold with silver glitter. Some custom printed t-shirts use plastisol ink that makes the design look embossed on the surface of the fabric.
Thanksgiving t-shirt designs, on one hand, are cultural and historical in essence. The designs feature scenes of our ancestors celebrating the first Thanksgiving dinner with a roasted turkey in the middle of the table and everyone in pioneer dress.

Another cultural holiday celebrated during the winter months is Kwanzaa, which is an African American holiday commemorating the struggles and victories of the Pan-African peoples. The images that symbolize Kwanzaa include harvests and candles, the same way with Christmas and Hanukkah. The colors most associated with Kwanzaa are black, red and green.

There are many more winter holidays that are celebrated from other parts of the world. Each of these celebrations can be commemorated with a nicely custom printed t-shirt personalized with places and dates of the holiday celebrations.

Festive Jewelry For Holiday Weddings

Get into the spirit of a holiday wedding with festive jewelry! Special earrings, bracelets, and necklaces with a holiday twist are the perfect way to set the stage for a Christmastime wedding. Unique jewelry with a holiday theme is ideal for everyone from the bride to the bridesmaids to the flower girl; read on for suggestions on how to pick the perfect pieces for your wedding.

Let's face it, there is just something magical about a Christmas wedding. Everyone is in the spirit of the season, and will be feeling especially cheerful as you tie the knot this December. Special holiday inspired bridal jewelry is a wonderful way to embrace the joy of the holidays as a part of your wedding celebration.

One fantastic idea for holiday wedding jewelry is pieces which have been handcrafted with Swarovski crystal snowflakes. The carefully shaped crystals twinkle and glimmer, just like a frosty winter day. They are perfect for anyone in the wedding party (or for the wedding guest looking for a festive pair of earrings to complete her outfit for the big event). The Swarovski snowflakes are so intricate and beautiful that they look best in a simple design, such as on a pendant or as the main decorative element on a pair of drop earrings. They make fabulous bridesmaid jewelry gifts, and are also wonderful for the bride and the mothers of the bride and groom. Best of all, you will be able to enjoy a set of Swarovski crystal snowflake jewelry all winter long.

If you are planning a true Christmas theme wedding, complete with poinsettias, holly, amaryllis, and evergreen boughs, you will want equally traditional holiday themed jewelry. A marvelous idea is Swarovski crystal earrings which are handcrafted to look like tiny perfect Christmas trees! They are absolutely unique, and will be a real conversation starter. Green crystals are layered to form a "tree", and then finished off with a crystal trunk and a red "star" topper. These precious earrings make ideal gifts of jewelry for a bridesmaid, junior bridesmaid, or an older flower girl. They would be spectacular with red or green bridesmaid dresses.

Everyone loves a snowman, and that is another fun motif for winter wedding jewelry. Little snowman earrings are great for a wedding in any winter month, not just December. They are handcrafted in either Swarovski crystals or pearls, complete with black crystal "top hats". Unique snowman earrings are not only wonderful for the wedding party, but they also make sweet thank you gifts for anyone involved in your wedding, from the bridal shop owner to your wedding coordinator.

If your wedding is close to New Year's Eve, a very sparkly all crystal look is gorgeous. Bridal jewelry sets which are created with dazzling Swarovski crystals will help you to celebrate your New Year wedding in high style. Especially fabulous are long drop crystal earrings with a teardrop shaped crystal topped with a ruffle of round crystals; they look amazing with a bridal gown with a ruffle detail. Have fun choosing festive jewelry for your winter wedding. These special pieces will help to make your entire wedding party get into the spirit of your holiday wedding. Best of all, holiday theme jewelry can be enjoyed over and over each holiday season.

Holiday T Shirts

Every holiday season can be marked or made special by a specific t shirt design based on that theme. You can have a tee shirt design for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Father's day or Mother's day, Halloween or even T shirt designs that proclaim your patriotism; Independence Day t shirts for instance!

Christmas t shirt designs are extremely popular and designers go all out to be really creative for the season of good cheer to all mankind. How about this one: a cheery bear is dressed up as Santa Claus with his bag full of gifts and with the words 'Have a beary merry Christmas'. Sure to coax a smile from the Scroogiest of people!

Then there is the more risque Christmas related tee shirt design such as this one: The illustration is that off a distinctly worse for wear Santa who seems to have passed out from rather too much indulgence of good cheer, bottle clutched in hand indicative of exactly what kind of good cheer; and the caption underneath reads, 'Santa Went to Town'! And then here is a very adult letter to Santa made into a t shirt design: 'Dear Santa, What I want for Christmas is all the girl's phone numbers off the naughty list'. One simply says, 'Kiss-mas', to indicate the season of love and brotherhood.

A Christmas themed t shirt design is a very popular choice for the holiday season, both as something to wear to enter into the holiday spirit as well as to give to friends and family as a gift. You can proclaim a child-like belief in the spirit of Christmas with a t shirt design such as this one: the archetypal cheery Santa's face beams up at you, with the simple message thereof: 'I believe'. Then again the t shirt design does not even have to have any words to convey the message of good tidings for the season. A cheerful snowman in his trademark striped muffler aptly conveys a message.

Children are perhaps those that enjoy Christmas the most and enter in to the spirit of the holidays with the most gusto! The thrill of anticipation of Father Christmas's arrival is something that a child would love wear in the form of a t shirt. A tshirt design that says quite simply but pithily, 'Dear Santa, I can explain.....' or one that is also addressed to the jolly old man and says, 'Dear Santa, Define Good!' would be a great choice for a naughty preschooler who is hoping that he or she was good enough to get lots of presents!

And if everyone is decked up in Christmas finery, why would your dog be left behind? 'Deck the Halls with Balls' says one t shirt designed specifically for your furry friend of the canine variety.
Then again Christmas T shirts don't necessarily mean t shirts with holiday themes, it may simply mean that you get a good big discount for the holiday season! So the holidays may be a good time to be t shirt shopping.

Enjoy the Season - 5 Ways to Manage Holiday Stress

The holiday season is notorious for being the most stressful time of the year. In addition to the demands of regular life, we have shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking, school plays, parties, menu planning, in-laws... and did I mention it's the most stressful time of the year?

Unfortunately, a stressful holiday is simply not enjoyable. If you've ever been there (and honestly, who hasn't?), you're familiar with that silent promise: next year, I'll do it differently.
Aside from renting a remote cabin, there's only one way to ensure a low-stress holiday season: have a strategy in place to keep it all manageable. Here are five easy ways to minimize the stress of the holiday season:

Strategy #1: Do what you love and delegate the rest - Time is short. Don't waste it on drudgery! If you don't have the heart to put the tree up, don't put the tree up. A beautiful bouquet or a candle arrangement can spread just as much cheer. Ask others to help you get things done; the neighbor's teenage daughter would probably love to wrap your gifts for a very reasonable fee. You don't need to do it all yourself. The key is to get organized ahead of time... plan to ask for help.

Strategy #2: Shop online - As much as possible, avoid the long lines at the post office, shopping malls, even grocery stores. Not only is online shopping faster and easier, but you can completely avoid the traffic and crowds that just take all the fun out of the holiday season. If you can, order several gifts from the same company, and make use of the gift wrap option when you check out. For those hard-to-buy-for people on your list, here are some suggestions: wine (maybe a wine-of-the-month club); gift baskets of foods, desserts, or personality-related themes; magazine subscriptions such as National Geographic; tickets to an event such as a concert or live performance; flowers; books; gourmet foods; and restaurant gift certificates.

Strategy #3: Stick with your exercise routine - When we get busy, it's often the first thing to go. But exercise is absolutely critical to stress management! Now more than ever, you need those feel-good hormones and all the extra oxygen, so make a commitment before the winter crush that you'll always make time for at least a few minutes of exercise every day. Come January (and those New Year's resolutions), you'll be glad you did.

Strategy #4: Get Creative! - Whether you get the urge to build a snowman or decorate a cookie, let yourself play a little. Arrange some flowers, paint a greeting card, whatever calls you. Your enthusiasm for life will get a boost and your tension will just evaporate.

Strategy #5: Make time to enjoy the season - The best stress-management strategies in the world aren't worth a snowflake unless you slow down enough to savor the season in quiet peaceful ways, like taking a walk to enjoy the Christmas lights and listening to Christmas music in front of the fire. Make time to just sit, and breathe, and just be... and enjoy!

Solar Christmas Lights for Trees and Holiday Lighting

Use Solar Lights for Free Lighting at Christmas

Do you want to decorate your Christmas tree and fight global warming at the same time? Well now you can!

Improvements in technology now mean that the costs of Christmas lights powered by solar energy have reduced to the point that everyone can now afford them. And the best part is that once you have bought and installed them the cost of lighting them is free.

Solar powered lights require no connections to an outlet so there is no electric bill for solar lighting.

Of course you have to live in an area where you get sufficient sunlight each day to charge up the batteries with solar energy during the winter season especially around the Christmas holidays.

Even if it is cloudy it can still be possible to charge a battery enough for good night time lighting, however it is always best to check that the type you are looking to purchase will do this if it is of concern to you.

As with all solar lights installation is easy. Your main problem is going to be finding a location with direct access to sun light for the mini solar panel that collects the suns energy to charge up the power unit. But now there is no need for long and dangerous extension cords trailing around the floor.

You can even get solar lights for Christmas trees which are totally for outdoor use and which will cope with whatever the weather chooses to throw at them. So now you can easily put lights on trees in your yard that were previously out of reach.

A typical scenario might be a string of say 60 lights on a tree along your driveway which are charged by the sun during the day and which turn on automatically at dusk and then run for about eight hours during the night with no energy cost at all.

There are now many different solar lighting solutions designed specifically for use at Christmas and other holiday occasions. Due to the new technology, miniaturization and the use of LED lights you can now find many new and innovative designs that previously you could only dream about.

Solar powered Christmas lights for both indoor and outdoor use are now available in many different fixtures and fittings to suit any use or location you many want them for.

You can of course also use them year round with no energy costs to enhance your yard, property or trees in any way you wish and most units will continue to illuminate from dusk till dawn.

There are many different designs available including string lights, snowman lights, Santa lights, Christmas tree lights, stake lights, garlands, reindeer, snow balls, stars, maple leaves, flowers and in fact almost everything you can imagine for displaying a Christmas theme. And these are all available in many different and beautiful colors.

So now it is easy to create a really festive Christmas attraction or a party atmosphere and decorate a tree or building with one or more sets of solar powered lights designed specially for the holiday season. And you can do all this with no electric cost using free energy direct from the sun.

Christmas Movies - A Family Holiday Tradition

For some people, Christmas movies are as much a part of the holiday tradition as putting up the tree and opening presents. There is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than to curl up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn to watch them with your family. Whether you prefer the old classics or the more recent films, you are almost certain to find Christmas movies that everyone in your family can enjoy.

No matter how many years go by, the old classic Christmas movies remain popular. Some of the favorites include Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, and White Christmas. While many of them have been redone using different actors and slightly varied story lines, they still hold the same charm. They really are a must see if you have never watched them. You can catch them every year during the month of December on several of the cable channels such as American Lifetime Movie Network. You can also purchase them in stores and online for a very reasonable price.

In more recent years, there have been a slew of new Christmas movies released that have become just as popular as the classics, if not more so. Santa Claus the movie, ELF, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Home Alone are just a few of the more recent favorites. In addition, some of the cable channels, such as The Hallmark Channel and The Disney Channel, release new original movies every year during the holiday season.

Although they are not considered Christmas movies per se, the classic animated holiday cartoons are always a hit with both children and adults. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, A Year Without a Santa Claus, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and A Charlie Brown Christmas are timeless classics. There are also a few animated movies, such as The Polar Express that promise to be favorites for a long time to come.

Christmas movies are a great way to spend time with your family during the holidays. It doesn't matter how old you are, unless you are the Scrooge or the Grinch, you are almost guaranteed to find a favorite.

Holiday Decorating - The Snowman and His Friends, Part 1

Whether gazing from a hilltop or guarding the front yard, snowmen announce that winter is here-and all is well. While their presence as symbols of the Christmas season may date back only to the early part of the nineteenth century, the urge to shape snow into life-size figures probably stretches back farther, to the first time humans saw snow. Like clay or cookie dough, snow practically demands to be shaped. Who can resist? So bundle up and get rolling.

As snowmen go, there is nothing wrong with the classic three-baller, but snow is such a versatile medium you can easily coax it into more unexpected shapes. The most elaborate snow creatures require wooden skeletons for support, but these structures needn't be fancy-a few scraps of wood screwed or nailed together will usually do the trick.

The best time to build a snowman is when the thermometer hovers at thirty-four degrees, and the snow is neither powder nor slush. You can simulate these conditions on colder days by spritzing warm water on the snow until it feels light and moist and packs well. After that, dress up your snowman with anything from your house or yard: vegetables and cookies, berries and pinecones, tinsel and tinfoil. A snowman, after all, will thrive wearing just about anything, except a suntan.

Snow Bear

Build a six-foot wooden skeleton to support the bear from two-by-twos using an electric drill equipped with a screwdriver bit. Screw skeleton to a two-foot-by-two-foot plywood base, and bury the base in the snow to keep the bear from toppling under his own weight. Dampen the wood using a spray bottle filled with warm water so the snow sticks. Pack snow around the wood; spritz each layer with warm water so it freezes. Once you have built a sufficient base of snow to flesh out the bear, leave the sculpture to freeze overnight. The next day, add the final coat, and sculpt the bear's generous proportions more precisely. Add the bear's vest by poking sprigs of pine into the snow. To create his lederhosen, wire pinecones to wooden dowels (below left), and insert them into the snow. An old black fedora with a pine-sprig feather sits on his head; his eyes and nose are made of dried prunes. Although carrots and coal are the classic choices for a snowman's features, you can use almost anything you like, especially biodegradables that will blend into the ground as gracefully as your snowman.

Holiday Barbie 2008 began more than a role model as a fashion model

Holiday Barbie 2008 is a wonderful collection celebrates the 20th anniversary Holiday Barbie. Although excited Holiday Barbie is scheduled every year, the Barbie doll has a fascinating history, beginning with his "birth" in 1959.

Believe it or not, Barbie was originally a real person. Her name was Barbara (Barbie) Handler and his mother and father were Ruth and Elliot.

In early 1950, the mother of a young Barbie as Barbie and her friends seemed happy to play with adults> Fashion Dolls more than they have the baby dolls. His mother knew it was important to present to young girls, so to speak, to grow up to be.

Since most adult dolls were available at that time, of paper or cardboard, said the mother of Barbie in a three-dimensional adult female doll ... do that was life-like enough to dream as a source of inspiration and role model for girls "of what the future would bring. A future full of fun on the beach, trips to get married one dayand family.

He took his ideas to the managers of ads Mattel Inc., the company that he founded and the father of Barbie in the garage for many years before. The all male committee rejected the idea saying it would be too expensive to produce and market appeal too little for the masses.

Ruth was not so easily discouraged. Had gone on a trip to Europe and with a Lillie doll she had bought back, "a doll modeled the character of a German comic strip. TheyThen spent much time Lillie similar design their own doll, and even a designer to make clothes to set realistic clothes. The result was the first Barbie doll.

Mattel finally agreed to support their efforts and Barbie made her debut at the American Toy Fair in New York City in 1959. Girls raved about them, and a new sales record for Mattel was set sold in the year before, with 351,000 Barbie dolls at $ 3.00 per piece.

Marketed as a girl "-Age Fashion Model", the first Barbie dolls weremanufactured in Japan, with their clothes hand-stitched by Japanese homeworkers. The first Barbie had a ponytail and zebra-striped swimsuit, open shoes, sunglasses and earrings blonde. Even more amusing was the fact that Barbie had a lot of accessories available. Little girl she loved, despite the buyer at the annual meeting of industry Toy Fair in New York, seemed indifferent.

Ruth knew what he likes young girls and Barbie has been a breakout hit! That's all it took for the purchase Retailers by storm! Mattel was so with the command, it took several years for the supply of fish to flooded with demand!

Since then the popularity of the Barbie doll persevered, and today, with over a billion of them look-alikes sold the product line is one of the most successful in the history of the toy industry.

This Christmas, Holiday Barbie 2008 once again exceeded all expectations. Was wearing a nice shirt, shiny silver, this stunning collection> Fashion Doll exudes a classic beauty.

Easy Homemade Holiday Decorations

Bring the joy of the season directly into your house with homemade holiday decorations. The fun of making these beautiful holiday crafts is surpassed only by the enjoyment you will get from them throughout the holiday season. These holiday decorating projects can be made easily at home with your children.

Tableware

Dress up your table for the holidays with this lovely craft. Using velour, embossed metallic or holographic paper for this project will produce stunning results. Trace a unique pattern onto your chosen material. This can be a geometric design, floral pattern or seasons' greetings. Cut out the pattern from your paper and use as table runners and place mats to dress up meals during the holiday seasons or at a holiday party.

Falling Stars

Use metallic paper or mirror board for this lovely ceiling craft. Trace or create your own star pattern. (Note: this can also be done with a snowflake shape as well.) Using your pattern, cut out three stars from your chosen paper. Lay all three stars on top of one another, and poke small holes down the center using a needle. Starting from the bottom, sew a thread through the pre-punched holes until you've reached the top of the star. Leave some extra thread for hanging your completed project. Finally, gently pull apart each of the six halves of your star to form a three-dimensional star ceiling decoration.

Styrofoam Snowman

Kids love building snowmen, and here is one that you can make all year round, regardless of the weather outside. Using three different-sized Styrofoam balls, hot glue one on top of the other in ascending order (largest one on bottom). Alternatively, you can use toothpicks to keep Styrofoam balls together. Use felt or velour paper to make a top hat, scarf and buttons for your snowman. Don't forget the carrot nose, eyes and arms. Using bendable wire or lacing, you can make your snowman hold a name tag, greeting, or sign.

Custom Gift Wrap

Any gift item will be graciously received when wrapped in your own custom-made gift-wrap. Use holiday-related stencils to trace images onto ordinary paper, and a ribbon to dress up a plain package. Draw, trace and cut out fitting shapes and words directly on the wrapping paper or on separate specialty paper and glue on to decorate the entire surface of your gifts.

Personalize each gift-wrap to fit the person or gift inside. And don't forget the bows! In conjunction with this theme, you can also use your custom gift-wrap to make personalized gift boxes. Recycle old containers and boxes, converting them into stunning gift boxes with the above technique.

Snow Globes

Create your own miniature winter wonderland with this simple craft. You'll need a plastic bubble container (like the ones found in toy vending machines) or a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid, glitter, hot glue gun and a holiday appropriate character. Hot glue the holiday symbol to the top of the container cover. Sprinkle colorful glitter into the clear bottom part of the bubble container or jar. Fill the container or jar 3/4 full with water or baby oil. Hot glue the cover, inverted, into the clear part of the container. Shake and enjoy watching the magic.

Optional: Spray small amount of spray adhesive into a cup and apply using a toothpick or brush onto the clear part of the container. Stick a small amount of the glitter to the interior walls before adding all the glitter and sealing. This will leave your snow globe sparkling even when it hasn't been shaken up.

Bead Napkin Rings

Dress up any dinner or party table with these colorful and simple napkin rings. String brightly plastic beads (around 10-12) onto the center of a pipe cleaner. Now make a twist in the pipe cleaner to secure the beads in place, and, at the same time, creating the circle of the napkin ring. You can repeat this step for a double loop or skip to the next one. Curl the ends of the pipe cleaner around a pencil for decoration, and your festive napkin rings are done.

Not only will your children enjoy making these lovely decorations, you'll save money using arts and crafts supplies, and you'll be creating golden memories of quality time with your family.

Happy Holidays!
